Dates: 26.10.-30.10.2020

Course Description

Programming competence is more and more important in many academic disciplines, including research in Economics and Management. In this course participants will learn the basic concepts of the imperative programming language Python. Python is not only a very usage-friendly programming language, but it also finds preferential application in many academic disciplines and brings along a great number of useful packages and libraries. Next to the basic concepts of Python, participants will learn to develop applications for their areas of interest. The preliminary course program involves two particular topics for the development of applications: 'Agent-based Modeling' and 'Data Analysis'. These topics can be altered or extended, due to the interests of the participants.

There will be 2 course days with 4 sessions each. At the first course day, the participants will learn the basic concepts of Python. At the second course day, the participants will develop applications with respect to at least two different areas of interest.
